How to Prepare for Kerala PSC Exams

This is the Kerala PSC section of PSCNET — free previous question papers, model questions, study notes and mock tests for every major Kerala PSC exam. Everything here is aimed at one thing: getting you through the paper.

Most candidates start with previous question papers, and for good reason. Kerala PSC repeats a large share of its general knowledge and Malayalam questions across exams, so working through past papers for LDC, LGS and the 10th, Plus Two and Degree level preliminary exams is the fastest way to see what actually gets asked.

Once you know the pattern, move to model questions and timed mock tests to build speed — the preliminary papers give you well under a minute a question, and that is what separates candidates who know the syllabus from candidates who clear it. Our 10th level and 12th level preliminary model question sets are the two most used collections on the site, and they follow the current exam pattern question for question.

Use the syllabus to find your gaps rather than to read end to end, and study notes to close them. A large part of the material is in Malayalam, including the Malayalam general knowledge sets and notes PDFs, because that is how most candidates in Kerala prefer to revise.

For dates and vacancies, the notifications shelf carries every new Kerala PSC announcement, and the exam calendar shows what is coming. Applying to any of them needs a Kerala PSC Thulasi profile — the One Time Registration every candidate completes once and then reuses for every application.

Kerala PSC Exam Pattern & Syllabus

Knowing the pattern tells you how to practise. Most Kerala PSC recruitment now runs through a Common Preliminary Examination, followed by a Main Examination for those who clear it.

Stage Questions Marks Time Per question
Preliminary 100 100 1 hr 15 min ~45 seconds
Main 100 100 1 hr 15 min ~45 seconds

Papers are objective, with negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer. That maths matters when you practise: three wild guesses cancel one correct answer, so train yourself to skip rather than gamble.

What to study. The bulk of the preliminary paper is general knowledge, current affairs, simple arithmetic and mental ability, plus English and Malayalam language. The 10th level, 12th level and Degree level papers differ in depth rather than in shape — which is why practising a level above your target exam is common advice, and why the same past papers are useful across all three.

Eligibility is generally 18 to 36 years, with 3 years relaxation for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates. Qualifications vary by post. Always confirm against the notification itself, never a summary.

Kerala PSC Preparation FAQs

Where can I download Kerala PSC previous question papers?

Every paper in our question bank is free and needs no login. Open the Previous Question Papers shelf on this page to browse by exam, or search for a specific one such as LDC or LGS.

Are Kerala PSC question papers available in Malayalam?

Yes. A large part of the collection is in Malayalam, including the Malayalam general knowledge question sets and the notes PDFs, since that is how most candidates in Kerala revise.

What is Kerala PSC Thulasi login?

Thulasi is the Kerala PSC candidate portal. You complete One Time Registration once, then use that single profile to apply for every notification instead of entering your details again.

How should I start preparing for Kerala PSC exams?

Work backwards from the paper. Start with previous question papers to see what is actually asked, move to model questions once you recognise the pattern, then use timed mock tests to build speed. Fill gaps with notes and the syllabus rather than reading end to end.

What is the difference between 10th level and 12th level preliminary exams?

They share a shape but differ in depth. Both are 100 objective questions in 1 hour 15 minutes covering general knowledge, current affairs, arithmetic, mental ability and language; the 12th level paper pitches its questions higher. Practising the level above your target exam is common advice.

How many questions are repeated in Kerala PSC exams?

A significant share of general knowledge and Malayalam questions recur across exams and years, which is why past papers are the highest-return material you can practise.

Is there negative marking in Kerala PSC exams?

Yes, one third of a mark for each wrong answer. Skipping is often better than guessing: three wrong guesses wipe out one correct answer.

Do I need to pay to use these study materials?

No. Question papers, model questions, notes and mock tests on PSCNET are free, and none of them need an account.
